About Us

The Great Falls Volleyball Association, GFVA, is a non-profit organization located in Great Falls, Montana. We are a group of local volleyball players dedicated to promoting competitive adult volleyball in our region.

During the indoor season, we try to play once a week at a local gym. The Park and Recreation Department and Salvation Army offer various indoor volleyball leagues coinciding at this time as well. GFVA hosts one indoor coed volleyball tournament during the winter.

During the outdoor season, we play two times a week at a local park.  GFVA also hosts one grass volleyball tournament, the Grass Stain Open, during the summer for all local and in-state players.

To relay the volume of city and statewide volleyball information, we have an active email list to keep our members updated.
Association History

The Great Falls Volleyball Association, Inc. orginated in August of 1992 with Board of Directors:  Bryan Lockerby, Donald Rogers, Channing Hartelius, and Susan Dorr-Cooper.

On December 1, 2000, The Great Falls Volleyball Association, Inc. was "involuntarily dissolved" due to the failure of filing the annual paperwork with the Montana Secretary of State.

After a period of sporadic activity, the current directors decided to step up and resurrect the association in May of 2006.  Since then, membership, annual meetings, tournaments, open play, and contact with other volleyball groups around the state have all been re-established.  In addition, an active and informational email list have been created along with an association website.

The association directors hope to have the necessary paperwork ready in 2012 to submit to the Montana Secretary of State in order to regain official status as, once again, "The Great Falls Volleyball Association, Inc."
Member Testimonials

"I have been a part of the Great Falls Volleyball Association for a little over a year and a half.  Since becoming a member I have been very well informed about anything going on with competitive volleyball tournaments or open play in Montana.  I appreciate all the information and have been able to improve my skills throughout the time.  I have met so many incredible players who have taught me about playing smart and skilled while also having such a great time.  I have also made a lot of new friends who are awesome people on and off the court.  I enjoy being involved with this assocation for so many wonderful reasons and am glad to be a part of it."

"The GFVA is tops in my playbook. It's a bunch of really cool people coming together to keep the great sport of volleyball alive and well in Great Falls. The association leadership is simply awesome about providing us with competitive tournament information around the state, open play opportunities and other events all year long. They even host the annual Grass Stain Open right here in town. So if you're passionate about volleyball and looking to "improve your net worth," then don't hesitate to join. The dues are a bargain compared to what you'll get out of it. So pony up a few bucks and get involved. You'll be glad you did."
